The education discipline of Capital Normal University (CNU) was established in 1954. Mr. Fu Rengan, a renowned scholar, was the founder of education discipline. Currently, the College of Education (COE) has seven research institutes, ten inter-disciplinary research centers, jointly established with the Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipal Government. In addition, the College has seven laboratories and the Museum of Textbooks, provide a variety of platforms for students’ professional learning and practice, and for faculty ‘s teaching and research.
The COE has strong academic capabilities in the discipline of education, which the first-level discipline of education ranked sixth in the third-round of national discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education, and obtained an A-level in the fourth-round evaluation (i.e. ranking top 5% -10% in China) as well as selected in the list of High-end Discipline Construction among Universities in Beijing. At present, it is cooperating with Beijing Normal University to build world-class education discipline.
The COE offer three Bachelor degree Programs : the Bachelor Degree of Education (highlighted as first-class major by the Ministry of Education), the Bachelor Degree of Educational Technology (normal education category) and the Bachelor Degree of Educational technology; six Master degree programs, including Principles of Education, Curriculum and Teaching Theory, Comparative Education, Higher Education, Educational Economics and Management, and Educational Technology; Ph.D. degree in education as a first-level discipline and professional degree of Doctor of Education . The educational discipline in CNU is regarded as the key first-level discipline in Beijing, also established a post-doctoral scientific research mobile station.
So far, COE has 97 Chinese faculty and teaching staffs, 90% of whom hold doctoral degrees, including 25 full professors , 36 associate professors and 14 lecturers, 17 of whom are doctoral supervisors. In the past two years, COE signed working contracts with 4 internationally renowned education scholars and started designing courses with them for students from different programs. Among the faculty, there is one member of the Education Discipline Evaluation Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, one National Distinguished Teacher, one Beijing Distinguished Teacher, and a number of teachers have been selected as awardees of various national Talent Projects, including New Century Talents Project from the Ministry of Education, Ten-thousand Talents Program and other talent programs. In November 2017, Professor Lao Kaisheng from COE was selected to the list of "Contemporary Education Masters".
Today, the students and faculty of College of Education of Capital Normal University, full of vigor and vitality, are striving together to forge ahead with its firm goal towards a more brilliant future.
